Fishing Report: San Luis Reservoir August 11, 2019

San Luis Reservoir can be an intimidating lake to fish.  It’s full of peaks and valleys, deep channels and fluctuating water levels.  The pattern changes daily and even hourly.  Sometimes you only have a small window of opportunity before they stop biting. So what do you do if you haven’t fished the lake over an extended period of time? Well, yesterdays trip I did just that.  It’s been several weeks since I last fished San Luis Reservoir.  With the recent death of my mother in law, broken steering cable on my boat and…Read more …

Fishing Report: California Delta May 8, 2019

It’s been awhile since I’ve written on here but here’s my fishing report from a recent trip.  The day before, I checked the wind finder app and it said the wind was low.  Maximum gust would be around 8mph.  I thought great!  Going to be an awesome trip. Fishing Report: O’Neill Forebay September 23, 2018

With my boat still out of commission, I wasn’t planning on fishing O’Neill Forebay last Sunday.  I was going to fix my leaking seal on the boat but I got a last minute call from my good buddy Xiong asking if I wanted to hit the lake with him.  I haven’t been on the water for the longest time now so it was a YES.  We took our boys too and we were on our way. I normally like to hit the water before sunrise.  It was late already.  The sun was blazing…Read more …

Fishing Report: San Luis Reservoir August 12, 2018

I remember going over the game plan with  Victor on our way to San Luis Reservoir.  I told him we’re gonna hit Portuguese Cove then try the Dinosaur Point area cause I know some flats over there that’ll hit when the water level gets this low. It’s set. We're good. The sun was already blazing over the horizon when we got there.  We get to the Basalt boat launch, I’m warming up the boat while slowly moving around in the area. Then I see it. Scattered schools of stripers not even 100 yards…Read more …
There’s Something About Fishing

There’s Something About Fishing

There’s something about fishing that brings us closer together from FAmily, friends and strangers who we’ve yet to call friends.  Here’s what I mean. So, on our FishAholics fishing charter trip, we booked a rock/ling cod trip with the Golden Eye 2000 out of Berekly Marina.  A great boat, crew and captain by the way. We headed out to the fishing grounds north of San Francisco to fish the reefs in the area.  On the way there, some FishAholics members already showed signs of insomnia.  The waves were rougher than normal but it…Read more …
